"At WKK, we work closely together, both between and within departments, ensuring that everyone contributes to the company’s success."
Name: Manuel Wieler
Position: Marketing
Location: WKK Germany
How did you join WKK?
In my previous role as a Business Development Manager, I was responsible for both marketing and sales tasks. However, as I wanted to focus exclusively on marketing, I began searching for a position dedicated solely to marketing. During this time, I met someone already working at WKK who spoke very positively about their experience. Fortunately, WKK was looking for a Marketing Specialist for the German branch at that moment.
What three words come to mind when you think of WKK?
Family-oriented, international, teamwork.
WKK aims to become the largest supplier of cable ties and heat shrink tubing in Europe. How can you contribute to this goal?
At WKK, we work closely together, both between and within departments, ensuring that everyone contributes to the company’s success. Within the marketing department, I focus on the following key areas:
- Planning and executing online advertising and trade fairs to ensure visibility at the right time and place.
- Implementing an omnichannel strategy that provides relevant information through innovation and automation.
- Supporting sales with targeted lead generation.
- Sharing the knowledge that WKK has built up over 40 years.
- Brand management of the WKK brand.
- Creating POS materials.
I am active in all these areas, but with different levels of focus, and I hope to contribute to achieving our goals.
WKK has seven different product categories. Which one do you find most interesting?
I find cable ties, heat shrink tubing, and our fastening clips particularly fascinating. Before joining WKK, I was unaware of how extensive the cable tie category is and how complex it can be compared to what it seems for private users. The functionality of heat shrink tubing and its wide range of applications, such as cable marking, was also new to me and remains a fascinating topic.
Since the fastening clips originated from WKK Automotive, which has its roots in Germany, employees in Germany naturally have a closer connection to the clips. The clips especially highlight WKK’s goal: providing efficient, time-saving, and reliable solutions for bundling goods. Many of these products, including our clips, appear simple at first glance but reveal their ingenuity when you examine their advantages and technical properties in detail. Additionally, WKK’s in-house development of the clips shows the effort required to create a high-quality product.
WKK offers employees many benefits, such as working from home and flexible working hours. Which one do you appreciate the most?
These two are the ones I appreciate the most. Working from home, in particular, is a welcome relief given my total commute of 65 kilometers.
What do you look forward to when you go to work in the morning?
In marketing, we work heavily on a project basis, which brings a lot of variety and allows me to shape my daily tasks largely on my own. I highly value this freedom in my daily work. Additionally, I always look forward to collaborating with my colleagues.
What skills do applicants need to succeed in your role?
Applicants should be team players, enjoy working in an international environment, be experimental, and capable of working independently. We always strive to stay up-to-date with the latest marketing trends, as long as they are adaptable for us. It’s advantageous to continuously develop yourself and remain open to new developments, such as the recent advancements in AI.
