In this blog we will focus on heat shrinkable cable end caps with glue. How do you use cable end caps? And for which purposes are they used? Read it in this blog!

For what purposes are heat shrinkable cable end caps with glue used?

Heat shrinkable cable end caps are used to seal off cable ends. When a loose cable, which doesn’t have to be or can be removed, but you want to make sure that its end is sealed of well, you use a cable end cap. The glue ensures that moisture cannot get in between the cable end and the cable end cap.

How do you use a cable end cap with glue?

A cable end cap functions in the same way as heat shrink tubing. By heating the cable end cap, with a heat gun or a hairdryer for example, the cable end cap shrinks on the cable end on which you want to use it. The glue on the inside of the cable end cap melts when the cable end cap is heated, which ensures that the cable end cap attaches to the cable end even better.

Which size of cable end cap do I need?

Heat shrinkable cable end caps are available in 20 different sizes. Especially the diameter is of importance: the cable end cap should fit over the cable end before shrinking, but should fit around the cable end tightly after shrinking.

Choose the cable end size with an inner diameter after shrinking that is smaller than the diameter of the cable end. When you, for example, have a cable with a diameter of 7 millimetres, choose a cable end cap with an inner diameter of 6 millimetres. By doing this, you ensure that the cable end will fit tightly around the cable end.
