What are heat shrinkable cable end caps?

Heat shrinkable cable end caps are a type of heat shrink tubing used to seal cable ends. The end cap shrinks when heated. Heat shrinkable cable end caps contain adhesive, which ensures a proper seal when the cap is shrunk onto a cable end. This prevents moisture and dust from reaching the cable end.

Properties of heat shrinkable cable end caps

Our HSEC heat shrink cable end caps are ideal for low-voltage applications. They are UV and weather-resistant and comply with RoHS standards.

Made of crosslinked polyolefin, they have an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +110 °C. The minimum full shrink temperature is 120 °C. These end caps are not flame-retardant or self-extinguishing and cannot be printed on. They are always black and halogen-free. The black color also contributes to their UV resistance. Heat shrink end caps are available with an inner diameter after shrinkage ranging from 4 to 82 millimeters.

Applications and use of heat shrinkable cable end caps

Heat shrinkable cable end caps are used to seal the open ends of cables. This is done by shrinking an end cap around the cable end. Here's how:

Step 1: Determine the diameter of the cable and select a heat shrinkable cable end cap with a post-shrink diameter slightly smaller than the cable diameter. For example, if the cable has a diameter of 6 millimeters, choose an end cap with a post-shrink diameter of 5 millimeters.

Step 2: Place the heat shrinkable cable end cap over the cable end and evenly heat it with a heat gun. Our end caps have a minimum shrink temperature of 120 °C.
