Grey heat shrink tubing
Our range includes heat shrink tubing in various designs, types, and colors, each with unique properties and applications. One of the available colors is grey. Grey heat shrink tubing is available in several types, all of which are thin-walled.
Which types of shrink tubing are available in grey?
We offer three types of grey heat shrink tubing:
- H-2(Z) – Thin-wall heat shrink tubing – 2:1
- H-2(3X) – Thin-wall heat shrink tubing – 3:1
- H-5(3X)-F – Thin-wall heat shrink tubing – 3:1
These types are available in various sizes.
Differences between types of heat shrink tubing
Choosing the right heat shrink tubing can sometimes be difficult due to the many designs and variants available. The main differences between the types of grey heat shrink tubing are:
- Material type: Crosslinked polyolefin or crosslinked co-extruded adhesive lined polyolefin
- Shrink ratio: 2:1 or 3:1
Material type
All of the grey heat shrink tubing types are made of crosslinked polyolefin. The H-5(3X)-F type contains an adhesive layer that is applied directly during production via co-extrusion, which ensures a strong and durable bond.
Shrink ratios
Our grey heat shrink tubing comes in a shrink ratio of 2:1 or 3:1. A 3:1 shrink ratio means that the diameter after shrinking is three times smaller than the diameter before shrinking.
For example:
The H-5(3X)-F type, with a diameter of 3 mm before shrinking, will shrink to 1 mm after heating. Always choose a shrink tubing with a post-shrink diameter slightly smaller than the cable diameter. For a cable with a diameter of 10 mm, choose shrink tubing with a pre-shrink diameter of 24 mm, which, with a 3:1 shrink ratio, will result in a post-shrink diameter of 8 mm.
Applications of grey heat shrink tubing
Grey heat shrink tubing is often used for marking cables and cable bundles. By using different colors of shrink tubing, you can easily identify cables. Additionally, it can be used to change the color of cables, for example, from black to grey.
