Polyamide 12
Cable ties made from polyamide 12 are in a class of their own compared to those made from polyamide 6.6. In fact, polyamide 12 is stronger and “better” than polyamide 6.6 in almost all aspects, which also makes the applications a bit different.
Properties of polyamide 12
Polyamide 12 is more resistant to chemicals than polyamide 6.6. It is also exceptionally flexible, even at low temperatures. Additionally, polyamide 12 absorbs less moisture and does so more slowly, making it relatively insensitive to environmental influences. Finally, it has better impact resistance and good UV resistance, making it very well suited for outdoor applications.
Polyamide 12 cable ties can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +85 °C. They are halogen-free and silicone-free, and meet the standards of the UL 94 HB flammability classification. They are only available in black.
Applications of polyamide 12
Cable ties made from polyamide 12 are mainly chosen for their chemical resistance. In environments where external factors such as UV, moisture, or chemicals could affect the cable tie, polyamide 12 is a good choice. Because of these properties, they are often used in the solar industry.
Variants of polyamide 12 cable ties
Our range includes polyamide 12 cable ties from two brands: WKK and Ty-Rap®. These two types are largely similar. The biggest difference lies in the locking barb: Ty-Rap® cable ties feature a stainless steel locking barb, while our in-house WKK brand uses a plastic locking barb. Additionally, Ty-Rap® cable ties are more expensive than our own brand.
Ty-Rap® offers polyamide 12 cable ties in seven sizes. WKK polyamide 12 cable ties are available in five sizes.
