Ring terminals
Ring terminals — also known as eyelet terminals — are electrical connection components that are attached to a cable or conductor. One side of the cable is clamped or crimped into the terminal, while the other side features a metal ring or eye that allows the connection to be reliably secured to an electrical terminal, ground point, or distribution board with a screw or bolt.
Types of ring terminals
Our assortment of ring terminals consists entirely of insulated terminals. These consist of a copper connector and an insulating PVC sleeve. The sleeve provides extra safety by preventing short circuits and electrical shocks, and protects the fine strands of the cable from damage.
Color coding and cable diameter
The color of the insulation indicates which cable diameter the ring terminal is suitable for:
- Red: 0.5 – 1.5 mm² cable core (AWG 22 – 16)
- Blue: 1.5 – 2.5 mm² cable core (AWG 16 – 14)
- Yellow: 4.0 – 6.0 mm² cable core (AWG 12 – 10)
Technical specifications
The ring terminals are characterized by a strong conductive connection (made from copper) combined with a ring-shaped loop that allows mounting with a bolt or screw. They are designed for reliable electrical and mechanical connections, with low resistance and good conductivity. They are fitted with an insulating collar.
Ring terminals are available in various sizes. The total length ranges from 18 to 34.5 mm, and the hole diameter varies from a minimum of 3.2 mm to a maximum of 10.5 mm.
They are resistant to temperatures up to 75°C and a maximum electrical voltage of 600 volts.
Installation of ring terminals
Ring terminals are used to create an electrical connection between a stripped cable and an electrical component, such as a terminal block. Installation is simple:
· Strip the end of the cable.
· Insert the wires into the terminal.
· Crimp the terminal using a crimping tool.
· Place the ring under a screw terminal and tighten it.
By following these steps, you can easily attach a cable lug to a cable and then secure it to an installation.
