Heavy-wall busbar insulation tubing
This heavy-wall heat shrink tubing is specifically developed for applications where there is a risk of creepage current. Made from modified polyolefin, the material offers excellent electrical properties and a high level of protection.
Properties of heavy-wall busbar insulation tubing
Our heat shrink tubing for busbars is manufactured from modified polyolefin, which ensures excellent insulating properties—especially in terms of creepage current resistance. Depending on the variant, the wall thickness after shrinkage ranges between 3.9 and 4.1 mm. The tubing has a flat shape and complies with ASTM D2671 Procedure B for flame retardancy. It is self-extinguishing, meaning it extinguishes within 60 seconds. Additionally, it is UV-resistant and halogen-free—ideal for demanding environments.
The operating temperature range is from -40 °C to +120 °C, with a minimum full shrink temperature of +110 °C.
This heat shrink tubing is only available in red, with a 2.5:1 shrink ratio and a maximum longitudinal shrinkage of 10%. Supplied on rolls of 15 or 30 meters.
Applications of heavy-wall busbar insulation tubing
Heavy-wall insulating heat shrink tubing is widely used in the electrical engineering sector—for example, for the insulation of busbars, which are solid copper conductors used to distribute electricity in distribution panels and switchboards. The excellent creepage current resistance helps protect the installation, while the flame-retardant and self-extinguishing properties contribute to fire safety.
Alternative: medium-wall insulating heat shrink tubing
Looking for a slightly thinner option? Medium-wall insulating heat shrink tubing is a good alternative. After shrinkage, it offers a wall thickness of 2.0 to 2.8 mm, depending on the type.
