O-rings
O-rings are circular sealing rings used to prevent fluid and gas leaks in joints between two components. Thanks to their simple yet effective design — a rubber ring with a circular cross-section — O-rings provide a reliable seal under pressure, whether in motion or at rest. They are widely used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, machinery, and piping, and are available in various sizes and materials depending on the application and the medium they come into contact with.
Properties
The O-rings in our range are made of nitrile rubber (NBR). They are black and have a metric thread. Their temperature range is from -30 °C to +100 °C.
Function and operation
The function of an O-ring is to seal a connection so that no fluid or gas can escape. This occurs when the O-ring, placed in a groove and compressed between two surfaces, exerts an elastic pressure that seals all gaps. When system pressure is applied, this pressure is distributed evenly across the ring, enhancing the sealing effect. Thanks to this mechanism, O-rings offer a simple yet highly effective sealing solution, even under high pressure, extreme temperatures, or chemical exposure.
Applications
O-rings are used in a wide range of applications — from industrial machinery and hydraulic systems to household appliances and automotive components. They play a crucial role in sealing connections in pumps, valves, cylinders, and fittings. O-rings are used in both static and dynamic environments — for example, in moving pistons or rotating shafts. Due to the variety of materials available, such as NBR, EPDM, FKM, or silicone, O-rings can be adapted to specific conditions such as high pressure, extreme temperatures, or exposure to aggressive chemicals.
