Button head cable ties (for chassis)

Chassis cable ties, featuring a round button head, are specifically designed for bundling and guiding cables on a chassis. For this reason, this type of cable tie is especially common in the automotive industry. Their function is the same as that of standard cable ties.

Properties of cable ties with a round button head

Chassis cable ties – or cable ties with a round locking head – are made from polyamide 6.6, just like most of our other plastic cable ties. This makes them suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +85 °C. They feature a plastic locking barb and comply with flammability classification UL 94 V-2. They are also free from silicones and halogens.

Cable ties with a round locking head are available in two colours: black and natural. The black version is UV-resistant. Each colour is available in one size.

Differences between standard cable ties and chassis cable ties

Chassis cable ties differ from standard cable ties in the orientation of the locking head. Typically, you insert the tail of a standard cable tie into the head at a 90-degree angle relative to how the tail is attached to the head. With chassis cable ties, you insert the tail into the head at the same angle as the attached end. This allows both the starting point and the end of the cable tie to pass through the same mounting hole.

Applications and use of cable ties with a round locking head

Cable ties with a round locking head are also known as “chassis cable ties” for a reason — they are often used on a chassis. Place the locking head over a mounting hole, with the tail threaded through the hole. Loop the tail around, for example, a cable located beneath the mounting hole, and insert the tail back up through the locking head. Then tighten it to securely fasten the cable.
