Blue heat shrink tubing
Heat shrink tubing is available in various designs, types, and colors, each with unique properties and applications. One of the available colors is blue. Blue shrink tubing is mainly used for marking and protection, and is available in different types, all of which are thin-walled.
Which types of blue heat shrink tubing are available?
We offer three types of blue heat shrink tubing, with a shrink ratio of 2:1 or 3:1:
- H-2(Z) – Thin-wall shrink tubing – 2:1
- H-2(3X) – Thin-wall shrink tubing – 3:1
- H-5(3X)-F – Thin-wall shrink tubing – 3:1
These types are available in various sizes and are flexible in use.
Key features of blue heat shrink tubing
Wall thickness
All blue heat shrink tubing in our range is thin-walled. With a wall thickness of 0.4 to 0.8 millimeters before shrinking, they offer flexibility and are easy to apply. However, thin-wall shrink tubing provides less mechanical protection than medium-wall or heavy-wall variants.
Material
All of our types of blue heat shrink tubing are made of crosslinked polyolefin, a strong and durable material. The H-5(3X)-F type also contains an adhesive layer that is applied during production via co-extrusion. The adhesive layer melts when the tubing is heated and shrunk. This ensures a watertight and firm seal.
Shrink ratio
Our blue heat shrink tubing comes with a shrink ratio of 2:1 or 3:1. This means the diameter after shrinking is two or three times smaller than the original diameter. Always choose a shrink tubing with a post-shrink diameter slightly smaller than the cable diameter.
Example:
When using heat shrink tubing with a 2:1 shrink ratio on a cable with a diameter of 7 millimeters, use shrink tubing with a pre-shrink diameter of 12.7 millimeters, and post-shrink diameter of 6.4 millimeters. This ensures a proper seal.
Applications of blue heat shrink tubing
Blue heat shrink tubing is ideal for marking cables and cable bundles. By using different colors, you can easily identify cables. Additionally, blue heat shrink tubing can be used to change the color of a cable, for example, from black to blue, which can be useful in specific applications or to make cables more visible.
