Uninsulated crimp terminals

Uninsulated crimp terminals are metal connectors used to securely and reliably connect the ends of electrical cables to screw terminals. They are made of high-quality copper and are designed without an insulating sheath. Uninsulated crimp terminals are used when there is no risk of accidental contact with the connection. Furthermore, the product is not suitable for narrow spaces or locations where many cables are grouped together, as the risk of a short circuit is high. Among the range of crimp terminals, the uninsulated variant is the most cost-effective option because it lacks insulation and is made from a single piece.

Function & benefits

The primary function of uninsulated crimp terminals is to provide a strong and reliable connection between a cable and a screw terminal. They offer good electrical conductivity, which is essential for the efficiency and safety of electrical installations. In addition, they are cost-effective and space-saving, making them ideal for applications with limited space or where multiple connections need to be placed close together.

Applications

Uninsulated crimp terminals are widely used in various sectors, including electrical engineering, industrial automation, automotive, and the maritime sector. They are used for connecting cables to equipment, switches, distribution panels, and other electrical components. The absence of insulation makes them suitable for applications where the crimp terminals come into direct contact with other conductive parts or where space-saving is essential.

Connector material

The connector is made of copper. The advantage of copper is that it offers good electrical and thermal conductivity. Moreover, its lifespan is excellent. However, it is more susceptible to corrosion than brass.

Assembly & tools

Installing uninsulated crimp terminals requires stripping the cable to expose the conductor. Then, the cable is placed into the crimp terminal, and the connection is made by securely crimping the crimp terminal onto the cable. A suitable crimping tool is used to firmly attach the crimp terminal to the conductor. It is important to choose the correct size crimp terminal that fits the cable thickness and application.

Insulated crimp terminals

In addition to uninsulated, WKK also sells insulated crimp terminals. Insulated crimp terminals provide extra protection against short circuits and are suitable for applications where safety is a priority. Uninsulated crimp terminals are more cost-effective and space-saving, making them ideal for applications with limited space or where multiple connections need to be placed close together.
