What is a screw plug?
A screw plug is a sealing cap with a thread, which is used to close openings in, for example, electronics housings. Screw plugs are available in different materials.
Screw plug types
In our range we offer the following screw plugs:
- Jacob - Plastic screw plugs – Metric
- Jacob - Plastic screw plugs – Pg
- Jacob - Brass screw plugs – Metric
- Jacob - Brass screw plugs - Pg
- Jacob - Brass screw plugs - Metric - With O-ring
- Jacob - Brass screw plugs - Pg - With O-ring
Thread: Metric or Pg
Screw plugs are, like virtually all types of cable glands in our range, offered with one of two types of thread: Metric or Pg.
Material: Plastic or brass
Screw plugs are made of plastic or brass. Plastic is suitable for most regular applications, and is also more competitively priced than brass screw plugs. Brass screw plugs, on the other hand, are resistant to corrosion and last longer.
What do you use a screw plug for?
A screw plug is used to close unused openings in electronics housings. This protects the housing against dirt, dust and moisture. When the housing must be sealed against moisture, then a screw plug with O-ring is the best choice. The rubber ring provides extra protection against moisture.
How do you use a screw plug?
Screw plugs are very simple to use. You simply place it in the opening by turning it into the hole with the thread. With the slot in the top of the screw plug, it can be easily tightened or loosened with a screwdriver (with a flat head).
