Heat shrink tubing with adhesive
When heat shrink tubing contains an adhesive lining, the tube contains a layer of adhesive (glue) on the inside of the tube. This layer melts when the heat shrink tubing is heated, which is done in order to shrink the tube.
Some types of heat shrink tubing which contain adhesive, are produced using coextrusion. This is a technique in which multiple materials are melted together. In the case of heat shrink tubing, these materials are polyolefin and the adhesive.
Uses of heat shrink tubing with adhesive & the advantages
Heat shrink tubing with glue can be used for every application for which heat shrink tubing without glue is used. The added value that the adhesive offers, is the fact that the glue ensures a watertight seal between the cable on which the tubing is shrunk, and the tube. Therefore, adhesive lined heat shrink tubing is often used in the maritime industry.
